In my mind, Sublime Text can’t hold a candle to Visual Studio Code and Atom, just because it’s not free or open-source. Sublime is insanely fast, you can find plug-ins to do almost anything, the editor is free if you don’t mind the pop-up every now and then, and if you want to support the development then you can buy it and get rid of the pop-up. I used Sublime Text for a couple years before. once in awhile the editor freezes during usage.Atom’s startup time is noticeably slower than other text editors.Slow when compared to Sublime Text 3 and Visual Studio Code. These other applications provide strong benefits such as a useful user interface that displays information about variables in in your workspace, as well as a window for built-in. Really easy to use, if you’re coming from Sublime Text Microsoft Visual Studio Code is more lightweight than most other options, such as Spyder and MATLAB.But still none of them are as good as Smalltalk, and Smalltalk still has the problem that it’s text editor sucks, Vim and emacs offer better editing experience. I used it for a while until now, and it is really easy to use, and get the feel of the Atom if you’re coming from Sublime Text. Atom, VSCode, Sublime, mate, etc are all imitating intellilj and visual studio and these two are imitating Visual Age line of IDEs from IBM who was an imitation of smalltalk in the 80s. That’s probably a good decision, as VS Code had already grown to. I waited more than 20 seconds to launch Atom for the first time. When I opened a project of mine inside Atom, I had a good impression of the user interface. Because Microsoft acquired GitHub, it was decided to focus on further development of Atom’s rival Visual Studio Code (VS Code). Atom is a complete clone of Sublime Text.
